A private plane crashed on the property of Camp Blanding Joint Training Center on Florida 16 just east of Starke, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Thanksgiving afternoon crash left one person dead, according to our news partner, First Coast News.

A 4-seat, single-engine Mooney M20 aircraft went down at about 3:15 p.m., the pilot the only one on board, FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said. The FAA will investigate the crash and identify the aircraft registration, while the National Transportation Safety Board will determine its probable cause, she said.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said it is one of numerous agencies assisting in the aircraft crash at the 73,000-acre National Guard training site in North-Central Florida, with Kingsley Lake at its center.
