Alison Hammond insists 'there's got to be commitment' after rumours of split from toyboy
Alison Hammond has spoken out about her views on commitment after rumours emerged that she had split from her toyboy boyfriend David, who she has been dating since December 2023
Alison Hammond has opened up about her take on commitment amidst chatter around her and her beau David's relationship status. The 50-year-old star has been dating 27-year-old David since December 2023, and recently, gossip started to swirl suggesting a breakup – rumours which Alison has firmly dismissed.
Chatting with fellow Loose Women panellist Judi Love on her 'Smart TV' podcast, the beloved television personality emphasised the significance of dedication in romantic partnerships. She shared with her audience: "You've got to work on it – I always say you've got to have all that passion, you've got to want each other, you've got to choose each other, haven't you, and commit."
She continued to stress the point, saying: "There's got to be that commitment because if there's no commitment, then what's the point?"
These reflections from Alison follow recent sightings of her and David smitten in public, their affectionate gestures quashing any break up speculation. Captured enjoying each other's company during a midday stroll, they were seen hand-in-hand.
Alison, known for her role on This Morning, hasn't shied away from commenting on her relationship previously, especially concerning the critiques about the age difference.
In a chat with Good Housekeeping UK, she challenged naysayers who dubbed David merely as her 'toyboy'. She commented: "I can see how, on paper, you'd notice the age difference.
"But honestly, when we see the word 'toyboy' written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all. Yes, I'm 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you'd understand. People have said to me, 'We get it now.'"
Moreover, she mentioned that their distinct personalities are what make them such a great match.
Expanding on this, she said: "He's so mature and sensible, and I'm so not. And the things he says to me...they're just so lovely. It's like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together." As reported by The Sun, Alison met David following a £150 massage booking, leading to a blooming relationship.
Alison is also set to take on presenting duties in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer. Alongside stars Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding, and new guest judge Lady Caroline Waldegrave, she will grace the Channel 4 hit show.
Taking over from Dame Prue Leith, 85, who has stated she feels she's "getting a bit old" for the full-time commitment to the iconic baking series, Caroline shared some nerves, but found comfort as she was welcomed warmly on set.
She said: "I was completely terrified. Then, when I turned up, I went to the shepherd's hut I was allotted and there were banners outside saying 'Welcome!' and flowers."
