TikTok is reshuffling its leadership ranks as it navigates mounting uncertainty in the U.S.

The short-form video app has elevated vp of global business solutions Khartoon Weiss to lead ad sales in North America, filling a role left vacant by Samir Singh in February, the company confirmed to ADWEEK.

Weiss, who has been with TikTok for more than four years, previously held roles at Spotify and iHeartMedia. In her new position, she will oversee North American sales operations for the app as it faces a potential ban in the region.

Her appointment follows a string of recent departures and comes on the heels of news that Blake Chandlee, TikTok’s global business solutions head, will depart on April 1.

Changes to TikTok’s executive ranks come as its Chinese parent ByteDance faces an April 5 deadline to divest its U.S. operations or risk a nationwide ban. The app has less than two weeks to secure a buyer before the congressional ban takes effect—potentially cutting off millions of American users.

Oracle has emerged as a key player in the high-stakes negotiations, while Vice President JD Vance recently said he expects a “high-level” deal could be reached before the deadline, NBC News reported.

Smaller players like Perplexity have also expressed interest in acquiring the embattled video-sharing app, though the AI search startup has yet to formalize an agreement.

Adding to the uncertainty, President Donald Trump has floated the idea of a “bidding war” for TikTok and suggested that the U.S. government should own a stake in the company. What an eventual deal might look like still remains unclear.
